Homemade Frozen Kong Recipes

Freezing treats into Kongs can provide your dog with a safe chew toy or distraction. These are great for rainy days or when your pup will be home alone. The ingredients are healthy and the Kong won’t damage your dog’s teeth.

You will need:

• Kong
• Masking tape (for the hole at the bottom)
• A jar or bowl to freeze the Kong

Instructions:

1. Wash your new Kong with warm water and soap. I put mine in the dishwasher.
2. Mix your filling in a bowl.
3. Place a piece of masking tape over the small opening at the bottom of the Kong.
4. Place Kong in bowl or jar and spoon in filling.
5. Place in freezer.

Applesauce Banana Puree

1. Mash half of a banana and mix in applesauce.
2. Fill Kong and freeze.

Chicken Apple Puree

1. Stir minced apple with chicken baby food. Be certain the baby food is free of onion or onion powder.
2. Fill Kong and freeze.

Chicken Duck & Apples

1. Shred I and love and you Nice Jerky Chicken + Duck treats in applesauce.
2. Fill Kong and freeze.

Peanut Butter & Carob Chips

1. Mix peanut butter (xylitol free) or sunflower butter with carob chips.
2. Fill Kong and freeze.

Pumpkin Banana Apple Puree

1. Mix mashed banana with applesauce and canned pumpkin
2. Fill Kong and freeze.

Feel free to modify or make your own recipe. Here are some ingredients to consider:

• Bone broth (low fat, no onion)
• Blueberries
• Avocado
• Shredded chicken
• Shredded carrots
• Shredded greens
• Pumpkin

Here are a few ingredients to avoid:

• Onions
• Chocolate
• Raisins/grapes
• Macadamia nuts
• Xylitol
